, I dont use any of the automobile logs and timers it has. . it keeps you secure , but there are no restrictions the way i normaly go. So far it functions well with Hazmat , But when you run doubles , I found that it nevertheless picks the finest, “truck route” , when pulling doubles you need to keep on interstates as considerably as possable , it will nonetheless route you down the shortest distance route , and when you get on the wrong type of road for doubles a tiny icon pops up telling you your in “doubles violation” , it would be far better if it routed you on all interstates when possable, so this make the double selection on the menu sort of useless. it’s actually really worth the xtra cash to get the model with existence time cost-free upgrades , it perform much much better if you update it every couple of weeks , before my very first update it had alot of problems with towns in P. Some of the very low poins ive come across are that it may possibly send you on a route thats longer than you really want. . . I went with Rand due to the fact they make the trucking maps , so i although “who better” I’ve had this for a couple of months now. I have a last drop ahead of i go residence and it tries to take me on a route thats @ five miles longer. I went with the 510 bc the 710 would seem to have more options then i essential , one particular issue i do want the 510 had was the genuine time visitors monitoring you get with the 710 (with subscription of course). all round it hasnt steered me incorrect so far , I like it. . . .

. . Aside from that, as I said, I love the features when it is working. So, word of suggestions to possible TND 510 consumers- do NOT update the maps unless of course you are positive you will be ready to get a replacement unit from wherever you acquire it from! Possibly I just got two lemons in a row, but still, shame on you Rand McNally- get your computer software together. I detest that I have had two units fail the very same way. I had them for a couple of days, then decided I would install the TND Dock software package that comes with it and get some yummy free map updates. I can plug it back in and update it once more, it recognizes that, but as quickly as I try out to turn it on it locks up. . I got my very first TND 510 about a month following I began skilled truck driving. Poor thought- as quickly as I try out to update the gadget, the download completes, it syncs the files, I unplug it from my computer and try to turn it on and. It has a handy reset button, but all that does is blank the memory and allow you see it lock up with the original factory maps set up. Practically nothing. I known as Rand McNally and regrettably they are not able to perform any more than-the-cellphone tech help on this problem, although they were nice adequate to assure me if I had problems replacing it at Love’s (the truck halt I got it from- they have a 30-day return/substitute policy), that I could perform it out with RM as an alternative. Every of the two units I have had have died the identical way. . It locks up permanently on the first loading screen- nothing occurs, practically nothing moves, nothing. I adore its functions, I love its precision, even though some addresses are out of date or missing, I really like its good huge 5″ screen, I really like that I can easily search for truck stops, scales, Wal-Marts. . It clearly displays its trucker-pleasant origins
