I keep in mind hearing Hulk Hogan putting in a GPS tracker in his daughters vehicle and staying in a position to remotely to shut off her automobile. That got me thinking if you knew your car was stolen, and you had a GPA tracker set up you could notify the police or remotely shut the automobile down yourself. Is this feasible?

Have a single in my auto (although I don’t feel it’s tied into the engine… it may possibly be… idk). Doesn’t cost that a lot and they recover the automobile (on common) 15 minutes after being notified.

yes its feasible. police units install these types of devices in what they contact bait autos. they place the auto in a shady neighborhood and if an individual steals it the car can be shut off and the doors locked so the criminal is locked inside.

Since you did not tell us a make and model of anything, it's a little hard to say for certain. However, most GPS devices are just receivers. They send nothing and thus have no ability to tell where they are.

The one possible exception to this is it's possible though that if you recorded the make, model and serial number that you could contact the manufacturer and tell them yours is stolen. Many GPS devices have updateable maps and it is possible that if someone connects it to a computer and logs onto the manufactures website to update the map, at least an IP address might be recorded, which would help authorities locate the thief.

you cant track it, thats the thing with sim card phones you can easily switch the sim cards. Your amount will not be attached to the cellphone specially if the sim card is taken out but you contacts would be on it.

No it is not possible. GPSr units are just receivers, they do not send out any kind of signal.

A GPS receiver is just a receiver. You can’t track it down any more than you could track down your car radio, also a receiver, if it got stolen. Your best bet is to remove the GPS unit when your not driving the car. Take it out and put it in the trunk where it’s not visible at least.
