Query by whirlwik88:
how come men and women don’t set up GPS tracking devices in their vehicle in case it is stolen?
I keep in mind hearing Hulk Hogan putting in a GPS tracker in his daughters vehicle and staying in a position to remotely to shut off her automobile. That got me thinking if you knew your car was stolen, and you had a GPA tracker set up you could notify the police or remotely shut the automobile down yourself. Is this feasible?

——————————————

Answer by mjj092000
Have a single in my auto (although I don’t feel it’s tied into the engine… it may possibly be… idk). Doesn’t cost that a lot and they recover the automobile (on common) 15 minutes after being notified.

Answer by anon
yes its feasible. police units install these types of devices in what they contact bait autos. they place the auto in a shady neighborhood and if an individual steals it the car can be shut off and the doors locked so the criminal is locked inside.

Answer by Daniel
lots of new vehicles have this from the factory. i assume onstar can even do this if you can prove you happen to be the owner of the automobile. there are aftermarket methods available that generally set up below the seat that let individuals to track their automobiles on the internet. they are not usually well-liked because most people do not want individuals to be in a position to see in which they’re at or exactly where they went or even how rapidly they are going.

——————————————

Query by Chris <3's Bikes:
Can i track my GPS right after its stolen?
an individual broke into my automobile and stole my ipod and GPS. is there anyway i can track the GPS device?

——————————————

Answer by Stephen M
>is there anyway i can track the GPS device<

Since you did not tell us a make and model of anything, it's a little hard to say for certain. However, most GPS devices are just receivers. They send nothing and thus have no ability to tell where they are.

The one possible exception to this is it's possible though that if you recorded the make, model and serial number that you could contact the manufacturer and tell them yours is stolen. Many GPS devices have updateable maps and it is possible that if someone connects it to a computer and logs onto the manufactures website to update the map, at least an IP address might be recorded, which would help authorities locate the thief.

Answer by Television guy
Sorry, No.

Answer by Ajay
If the remove battery or connection it is not feasible

——————————————

Answer by Desert Dust
No it is not possible. GPSr units are just receivers, they do not send out any kind of signal.

Answer by wires
A GPS receiver is just a receiver. You can’t track it down any more than you could track down your car radio, also a receiver, if it got stolen. Your best bet is to remove the GPS unit when your not driving the car. Take it out and put it in the trunk where it’s not visible at least.

Answer by cpr_hrrs
Most likely, even by cell phone towers it can be tracked.

Answer by cs64736943
No it cannot, in truth you can only track it if you have installed a tracking app like Mobile Defence or WaveSecure.

Answer by A
Completely not possible with out a battery in the cellphone.

With a battery in but the phone switched off: In theory achievable if you had been close to the phone and had some extremely fancy electronics and sensitive antennas pointing at it. In reality it not even remotely practical.

Switched on: Yes but you would either need a tracking app installed on the telephone or access to the cell networks internal computer system.
