They are straightforward and cheap to get now (about $ 60 for the least expensive ones). They can keep track of speed and text you if the driver leaves selected pre-set barriers.
Soooo….would you install one particular in your teens auto, or is this a lot more of a trust situation?
If you would install 1, would you inform them about it? i consider that it would let the teen far more freedom, due to the fact parents would let them do much more stuff than standard because the parents can keep track of them if required.

I know there are techniques of doing it exactly where it will record the place of the car for later retrieval of the information, and there are also techniques of doing it where you can get true-time notification of where the auto is. I would choose not to use any device that needs a monthly subscription.

By the mile tax via Government GPS in your car, good or bad?
As cars get better and better gas mileage, they have to do something.
SO the Prius drivers will pay the same as the Hummer drivers? All this ON TOP of the Cap and trade tax AND the Federal tax we already pay per gallon! I am sure the government will not use the system to track where you go. ;-/
