Since you did not tell us a make and model of anything, it's a little hard to say for certain. However, most GPS devices are just receivers. They send nothing and thus have no ability to tell where they are.

The one possible exception to this is it's possible though that if you recorded the make, model and serial number that you could contact the manufacturer and tell them yours is stolen. Many GPS devices have updateable maps and it is possible that if someone connects it to a computer and logs onto the manufactures website to update the map, at least an IP address might be recorded, which would help authorities locate the thief.
