At initial glance the SPOT2 would seem like a excellent product, emergency rescue, tracking, custom messages, and so forth. , but never think the marketing and advertising. The gadget is unreliable, the buyer service is poor, plus there is often the surprise renewal charge of 2. This is not an isolated incident, believe all the other unfavorable product testimonials. . Please research this product prior to you waste your money. My SPOT2 functioned intermittently in the finest of problems, always providing the Ok signal, but several messages would not be obtained. Again, don’t waste your money. 00. I would not want to depend upon a SPOT2 in an emergency

I used mine hiking in the US and the island state of Tasmania in Australia. . Most of my use was inside the walls of the Grand Canyon even though rafting down the Colorado. Worked practically every single time, which includes amongst steep walls in which the sat mobile phone would not function at all. No worries there. Do not know what the other fellow had troubles with, but mine worked like a charm for many years, and posted my coords on my Facebook page to boot. Client service and web site are a bit clunky, but the item performs wonderful. Liked it so significantly (and so did my wife, who was in a position to not only track my progress but know I was safe and sound) that I got the new Spot Connect

Thanks SPOT. Worked excellent! (Oh yeah, this was inside a styrofoam cooler 1″ thick)Launch two: Identical deal, up to 60k feet worked fantastic, stopped and when it came back down it relayed it’s location two hours right after coming down in a forest with no visible sight to the sky and upside down. 0 worth of camera tools recovered. So other then the 2 hours attempting to get back it is signal I recovered fine. I bought this spot in 2010 for a climate balloon launch. . But right after letting it attach it worked fine right after several diverse successes. Launch one: The tracking was proper on, after 60k feet it stopped communications (FAA guidelines) and when the balloon popped it came back down it relayed 1 time at 30k, and then 1 hour later on the floor of a forest with no sky view. It sent twenty area spots ahead of locating it. I examined the model out after getting a number of small problems finding to transport info to the web site

Right here is the “meat” of some concerns that want to be thought of before you order this item. #six. I have to use the fingernail on my “pinky” or a ballpoint pen in order to press the button to make it engage the electronic contacts. ” She is able to then click a link and it will take her to Google Maps and exhibits her my place. I ought to lower the manual in half, and post a video of that on YouTube. A “complete-fledged Emergency Locator Beacon does not need an yearly contract, the Spot Messenger does. . . There are 3 possibilities for sending messages. . (Which goes to my wife) is “I am secure, here is wherever I am. And so far (after understanding the ache-in-the @$ $ web site for SPOT, I now am confident I can go virtually anywhere and be capable to get my pre-programed message to my speak to list. Each and every time, the accuracy of this looks to be around 150 feet, which is correct ample for a SAR. As soon as I Ultimately got my account established and my emergency contacts set up, I am acquiring far more confidence in my Spot as a device that can speak to my wife when I am in a remote region not having cell services. . . If you get in touch with their consumer support men and women, be ready to wait for up to 20 or 30 minutes for a true human-becoming who you can truly talk to. If you are a Infant-Boomer like me, your body fat, old fingers might have problems pressing these tiny buttons in order to send a message. These folks need to have to make a greater manual. The small buttons on the Spot give NO TACTILE FEEDBACK (click) and it is considerably difficult to figure out if your button (“I’m Ok” or “Send Assist”) was truly activated and worked. I suspect if I fell down a cliff or had been injured in some way, I may not be capable to get the tiny buttons to work due to the fact they are so tiny and awkward to access with my fat and stubby fingers. #one. You will most likely want a thing totally various. You May be lucky if you get an reply in 7 to 10 days by e-mail. Rest assured, if you go to the “Adhere to Me Spot” site and look at the “FAQs” be suggested that 90% of your questions will NOT be addressed on the website’s FAQs. #5. . You can not create “tailor-produced” messages with the spot whilst out in the boonies. . The manual that came with my Spot 2 is TERRIBLE. PLEASE NOTE. #four. . Do not even feel of sending a question to these folks Through e-mail. The button you push for the particular message eventually lights-up and blinks when they have been “activated and sent” even so when viewing these very small buttons in sunlight, they hard to see and decide if the message was indeed “SENT. . (You may see on my Flickr account my Spot GPS Messenger in a few Ghost Towns. The site, wherever you need to activate the Spot and purchase a service plan is complicated and convoluted. You get a selection of three messages with the three distinct buttons on the Spot. I only have a cell cellphone and it was irritating wasting my “minutes” even though on-hold. (Like most men and women advise) It is not a substitute for a full-fledged ELB. but the iPhone doesn’t work everywhere, and I love going into remote locations to tour ghost towns and old mining camps wherever there is NO CELL Services FOR MILES. )The SPOT GPS MESSENGER can easily beam your pre-determined message to a satellite, when my iPhone can’t work. My iPhone has a couple of Amazing apps where I can press 1 button and inquire for 9-1-one help and another app that I can press, to send my wife (or any individual possessing an e-mail account) a message displaying my GPS area on Google Maps. You have to get on-line with your pc, go into your “Adhere to Me Spot” account in advance and generate a pre-determined message.

Study far more. It is TERRIBLE!#three. It is tough to navigate and recognize. . (NOTE MY UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS Assessment Prior to Purchasing)I bought a Spot GPS Messenger two in May possibly 2010, mainly to use when I travel in my airplane (if you go to my Flickr account, “SouthwestUSA” or Google “Flickr, SouthwestUSA Spot GPS Messenger” you are going to see my Spot resting on best of the panel in my airplane above New Mexico in which it usually managed to send a message) or RV. . I was so frustrated and mad at one point, I was shut to cutting the Spot in half on a band-saw and posting a video of the severing on YouTube. I wasn’t a “content camper” the initial week I owned this little jewel. It took me far more than a week to eventually get their BIZARRE internet site figured out in order to get my Spot GPS Messenger two set up and functioning as I need it. This item has received a lot more than it is fair-share of significantly less than favorable testimonials, and I too had earlier given this product a 1 star evaluation here on Amazon, about 7 days following I obtained it. If you purchase this little jewel, you will have a boatload of questions when you open the package deal. #1. ” If you are six years old, your small finger can get to the modest buttons. . So, A ELB may be a less expensive option to the Spot if you want such a gadget for 5 many years or longer. #two. Beneath are examples I programmed into my “Stick to Me Spot” account

as an alternative of the double AA the originals employed. Immediately after a close search, I utilised a micro screwdriver to stretch the springs, and the result was excellent. this unit is about half the size and weight of the first model. the spot two now utilizes 3 AAA batt. hope this data helped. Properly removing the batteries I noticed the optimistic battery terminal springs were not producing contact with any of the 3 bateries. the unit has an enhanced gps receiver and additional messaging characteristics. Mine was DOA out of the box. the unit operates as promised, and would have gotten five stars, but the unit I obtained, had manufacturing defects that have been effortlessly fixed. so verify your new spot two for compressed springs, on the good battery springs. perry

I’ve witnessed several posts talking about the down side to a SPOT I feel it is unfair to evaluate the SPOT to a PLB. SPOT is wonderful so your buddies and loved ones can see a cool google map of your track as you are going along. If you are looking for strictly a existence saving beacon to be used in emergencies then I would have to agree with some of the more than feedback and say a SPOT is not for you, get a PLB that is more reliable and has no monthly subscription. Also SPOT is great a giving your loved ones an added comfort when you press the “I am ok” button or some other message to let them know what you are up to. . But if you are hunting for a enjoyable, rugged GPS tracker then SPOT it what are seeking for. PLBs and SPOT have I think have two distinct missions and would complement every other in any outside circumstance

I’ve run four occasions a week with the Garmin 201 for the previous two years so I was anxious to get the 205. Right after 10 runs with the 205 (some runs with both) here is my consider on the new 205:Pros:- much better kind element (though nevertheless massive and same weight as the 201)- Buttons are a lot more intuitive (much less guessing in the dark)- A lot more precise – If I run the identical run three times (e. . All round I would nonetheless extremely advise the unit. 3 miles. 09. The 205 also appears to be much more correct according to “acknowledged distances”- Significantly less satellite drops compared to the 201 (although see the Large con below!)- The strap is rubber so it does not act as a sweat band (the 201 was harder to clean and smelled for weeks immediately after a marathon)- Better softwareCONS:- Fonts are smaller sized (specifically on historical past and other screens)- The strap is rubber and doesn’t fit as well as the cloth/Velcro on the 201 (even though the professional I assume outweighs the con!)- Massive CON: On one typical run along the bay in San Francisco (no hills, trees, or buildings) the 205 lost satellite in a “typical” location (common for my 201 to drop in the very same place) 1 mile into the run, but the 205 in no way recovered in the course of the total run. the 201 varied by as much as . g. 02-. I definitely desire to run with the 205 as an alternative of the 201. a standard 6 miler) all 3 distances are inside . . So the 205 doesn’t drop satellites as a lot, but when it does it may well not recover – this is a fatal concern if it continues (note: the 201 drops usually, but always recovers appropriate away). I will be viewing the drop-recover concern cautiously to see if others report a equivalent problem.

* GPS Accuracy: The Garmin Forerunner 205′s GPS receiver appeared considerably more powerful. The GPS accuracy data area and the satellite acquisition display are also awesome bonuses. * Customization: The 205 allows you to customize two primary screens and a third activity particular (i. I wish they didn’t use the shading and just had the plain background. The actual-time elevation studying will then “catch up” to the right elevation. e. For example, following I finish my runs I will normally stroll a tiny in my backyard to awesome down. * USB Cradle: Charging and uploading through USB is a good. time, pace, distance, and so on) and feedback so I am unwilling to place a device on my upper arm even if I have to sacrifice accuracy. Dislikes* Display: The display of the 205 looks smaller and the history screens are dark and hard to study. Right here is the URL to the initial element and you can find links at the bottom to the other elements:[. * Battery indicator: It just exhibits 4 vertical bars. And on my one run more than a tree-covered, GPS signal-challenging program, the 205 came out a star, finally permitting me to measure a route that I was unable to with my 201. e. It would seem to tie closely with GPS accuracy. * True-time elevation: For me this isn't a huge offer, but the "real-time" elevation studying lags on the 205. I wrote an extensive six-part assessment comparing the Garmin Forerunner 205 with my older Garmin Forerunner 201. Personally, I want to seem at my observe for instant information (i. ]If you never want to study the full evaluations then right here is a summary of my likes and dislikes:Likes* Comfort and Form aspect: Usage model is really critical and although the 205 is big, it feels and wears like a wrist observe. With that stated, the 205 appeared to be more constant and showed a tighter range of paces. Cool Stuff* Tons of characteristics: There are a lot of factors the 205 can do such as import programs, sophisticated workouts, virtual companion and a bunch of other features that I need to exploreWishlist* Lessen type issue* Color screen* Enhance battery existence* Boost waterproofing/water resistance* Add wireless connectivity for uploading and downloading information and info above the air to Computer or mobile services. I liked the function on the 201 exactly where it told you how many hours of charge have been left when you powered it on. Another great issue about all the Forerunners is you can customize screens and settings on the fly without interrupting your existing activity. * Actual-Time Pacing: I am not that interested in realizing how rapidly I’m going at a certain second in time so never was a massive fan of the “actual-time” pacing feature of the 201. With that stated, the side buttons looks a bit stiff to me. It also seemed closer to how rapidly I felt I was going related to the existing circumstances (i. uphill, downhill, flat) than the 201, which showed a great deal of variation and lag. The plastic strap is more comfy than the 201′s velco strap, and the unit also comes with an extension strap if you need to bundle up and put on it outside your clothing. A lot more quickly than the 201′s serial port. I can lock onto a signal inside my house subsequent to a window, I have not obtained 1 weak signal in a week over routes that triggered my 201 problems. * Buttons: My broken electrical power button seems to be an anomaly so far given that I have not study of other folks with the same problem. run, bike or other) a single with one to four data fields per display. . This is quite awesome, particularly for information-driven geeks like myself. . In terms of kind factor, the lap and start off/stop buttons are nicely placed and sized on the face of the observe. e

The integration with Google Earth and Maps is outstanding. Study on. ]Overall, if you are on the fence about a GPS education device (as I was) then jump down and join the rest of us that are reaping the important positive aspects of owning one. On my 15k I run down a trail that has intermittent clearings and tree cover. Subsequent startups are quickly so there should be some initialization method that is skipped on subsequent runs. I figured the circuit I ran was about 5k. . However, I would advise going to Movement Based mostly whose URL is supplied in a flier that is packaged in the 205. I have run in San Francisco with no GPS troubles so not positive why other individuals are having issues. But overhead tree cover does seem to affect the recent pace accuracy (see my nits beneath). There has to be a way to simplify the menu depth and make it a tiny far more intuitive. . At best I beat myself!]I find the 205 to have relatively good potential to get satellite signal. With no a doubt the virtual companion perform is going to aid me boost my early morning weekday runs. I can turn it on in our property (two story with me on the ground floor) and get a signal. At worst I attempt and hold pace with myself. Tres awesome! As I described earlier the Coaching Center computer software that comes on the CD with the 205 is great. Straight away I could go to the navigation page and with the “virtual companion” function turned on there I was racing my(virtual)self! What exciting! As anticipated I could not keep up with my(virtual)self and based on when my(virtual)self would commence to break away I knew I had to place on a lot more electrical power. [Update Dec 2006: The virtual companion function has certainly improved my training. Now that I covered what was critical to me there do appear to be some small nits with the device that I observed and I see other people have already commented on. This morning (5:30a) I started out the 8k “program” in the 205. – existing pace is negatively affected by overhead obstructions. And the 205 performs really well so I highly suggest it!Oh, the cause I did not get the 305/HRM combo is simply because I get heat rash from sporting an HRM. I have shaved 6 minutes off my 8k run since I bought the 205. The nits I would like to see corrected:- the considerable menu navigation. To my pleasant shock the 205 informed me I was doing 3k a lot more than I estimated so that was fantastic news to me! But the 205 did not halt there. Although I intellectually understood the benefit of the virtual companion function right up until I actually utilized it I did not value what distinction this function will have on my instruction. The general typical pace would seem to be correct. . A couple hours of additional rest would seem to make a lot of big difference. I saved the 8k circuit as a “program” in the 205. The 205 has a “pace alert” function that can alert you to when you slow down. Not extremely valuable when each time I ran into tree cover the alert would sound. This is my very first training GPS gadget. The Coaching Center computer software that comes with the 205 makes it possible for for relatively simple editing of the program adding in markers on when to turn, valleys/summits and saving the course back to the 205. [Update Dec 2006: As I travel a lot the only comment I have right here is when I start up the 205 in a “new” city it takes a lengthy time to lock into the satellites. On Saturday I ran my 8k circuit at 8a and came in at a very good time (for me). Each and every time I ran into the tree cover and lost signal power on the satellites the current pace dropped even even though I’m fairly positive I was trying to keep an even pace with the music I was listening to. I truly like MB and you can check out other people’s GPS data/occasions. Every single time I make a new PR I save that as the program and function against that on subsequent runs. If you are anything at all like me the runs I do at five:30a on the weekdays are not as strong as the ones I do at 8a on the weekend. I ultimately had to turn the pace alerts off as it was also inaccurate to be of any use. I can save the pictures as JPGs and publish them to my blog so every one can see in which I’ve been. . I purchased the 205 to mainly get an thought as to how far I was running

Positives:Flawless heart price samplingGreat distance measuring and lap-typical pace calculationSeamless integration with a PCFully-automated coaching log updateUser-customizable displayNegativesWildly-varying pace readout. The accuracy (according to the readout) is +/- 25ft, based on how several satellites can be found. Updating my instruction log is trivial now: Plug this issue into my pc, and it’s completed. There’s none of the signal drops I’ve had with other heart monitors. The elevation readout also seems inaccurate, but that is not important to me. You can recharge the unit by means of the USB port on your computer, although it’s slower than using the dedicated recharger. That seems actually very good and offers some further performance past the incorporated Training Center software program, even though I nonetheless haven’t determined if it’s really worth the $ $ $ however for lengthy-phrase data storage. I’ve worked a bit with one of the on the internet, subscription solutions (MotionBased). There are virtually 40 different data fields you can choose from for show. Examples: existing pace, regular lap pace, regular run pace, heartrate, distance. The principal explanation I needed it was for the instantaneous readout of distance, operating pace and heart rate, the latter needed for the speed work I want to do this operating season. The Computer software program is really excellent for presenting time/distance/pace/heartrate/calorie information. I like this issue really a lot. I can not picture running or biking without having it. I suspect the issue is either in the averaging algorithm (also brief a distance?), or in the uncertainty that results from diverse satellites coming in and out of view. The default display layout is rather poor, but in just a number of actions I could replace it with the information I needed to see although I run. The only disappointment is the point-in-time (instantaneous) pace measurement: It varies wildly in the course of a run. MotionBased makes it possible for export to Google Earth, and it is tremendously cool to see your working path superimposed on a satellite image. The GPS usually increments a mile when I’m inside 5 or ten feet of the mile marker sign on the path. I use it mostly for running, with biking a secondary usage. Once the satellites are at first acquired, I’ve only had 1 dropout when I was outdoors. The original acquisition of the satellites can be quirky and can consider some time. I had hoped that owning this gadget would show motivational for me, and indeed it has. Upload of work out data to the Pc software program (Instruction Center) is transparent. I’ve had it for about three weeks, and have employed it on 12 routines so far. The heart rate strap is also really comfy and well-developed. Effectively, I guess that’s the least I really should expect from a 0 GPS unit! Of program it is greater than a regular running stopwatch, but that hasn’t bothered me at all. I’ve compared the distance measurement on the GPS with a known, measured distance on one of the trails I run on (the Chicago lakefront path). The bottom line is that you cannot appear at the view and say “right now I’m running 9 mins/mile”. Thankfully there’s a lap-average pace that can be presented, and at least that worth is useful and a lot more correct. My hope is that a long term software update will do a thing about the pace calculation (maybe a couple of added ranges of smoothing?). There is the ability to specify a pace smoothing factor, but I have it maxed out and nevertheless see the variations. The core functionality (distance and heart price monitoring) operates completely. If so, the Forerunner 305 would earn five stars+++. I just looked at my run nowadays, and according to the information the very first mile varied from five:57/mile to 12:06 mile. The display is crisp and has a single outstanding function: The details presented on the a variety of pages can be entirely user-custom-made. I see swings as big as +/- 3 minutes/mile. The variations look to get worse under tree cover compared with an open place. . However the maps it demonstrates are extremely crude. I’m a marathoner and I know my pace is pretty constant during a run

I have a two. . I’m a beginning runner. they overlap nearly specifically. . . . it reports about 10mins/mile. . I have thyroid and heart problems, and this watch provides me the self-confidence to know I am not exceeding my max hr for also long (I can very easily get into the 180′s) and offers me the feedback and stats to preserve me motivated. I haven’t seen the pacing troubles other people have reported. It syncs to the satellite in a sensible* quantity of time, seems to track my pace extremely well, tracks distance properly, and the heart rate keep track of appears WAY far more accurate than the devoted physical exercise machines at my nearby fitness center. . and when I compare the maps of every run. That’s the only point I could possibly assume of enhancing, but it is not a big offer. -). . . if I allow up. five mile run. I haven’t had any of the issues reported by any of the a single-star reviewers. . It seems extremely steady over my entire two-2. . 1 mile run in which I’ve accomplished the exact same precise route about 6 times. Now, following two weeks of use (ten runs of 2 to two. . Final but not least, I’ve purchased dozens and dozens of items from Amazon above the many years, and this is the very first review I’ve taken the time to compose – hope that gives you an indication of how happy I am with this solution. . Becoming the super-impatient person I am, I typically turn on the observe, set it on my front porch, go back in and change into my working outfit, and by the time I come back out it is ready to go. but if I maintain a sound pace. about 9mins/mile. . 5 miles every single), I have no regrets with the buy whatsoever. about 11mins/mile. . With a couple of one particular-star critiques, I was a bit hesitant to order this. . *by affordable, it does consider a minute or two to sync to the satellites every time. . if I push a little harder

I panicked at first, but fortunately, her mom had connected the Guardian Angel locator tag to her just before she dropped her off at my spot. Right after looking for maybe two minutes I tracked her down employing the tiny handheld tracker. She was taking part in hide &amp seek with me, the minor dickens! She believed it was so humorous! I informed her never ever to do that yet again, except when we are at property. My four year old granddaughter wandered away from me while we had been purchasing in a active department keep.

I attempted to tell my young children that if their “bug” beeped, that meant they had gone also far and essential to come back to me. I was hoping that by purchasing the much more pricey solution, it would be a tiny more reputable. Thankfully I have not had them get lost and had to use the search mode. I believed this would be wonderful for when we go to the park, mall, amusement park, and so on. When it kept beeping even though they had been where they have been supposed to be, my three yr. They have a tendency to wander off and I cannot preserve my eyes on both of them at the exact same time. I do like that it has a panic button on the “bug” and that it can assist you inform what course a lost individual/object is in. I’m going to hold it simply because if it does perform, it could be a lifesaver. I bought the Artec Guardian Angel Tracker because I have a 6 year old with autism and a three year old. It is critical to teach young children to go to an open area and keep there till their mothers and fathers display up. The manual says “Guardian Angel may well expertise interference &amp loss of signal in crowded location this kind of as purchasing mall, amusement park. I hope that it would operate it that predicament, but I don’t have a lot of self-assurance it it. I’ve utilized it at the park a few instances, but it gets a great deal of “false alarms” (maybe from cell telephone interference?). old just looked at me confused. . ” I’m afraid it may not function when I need it the most

So I did not even bother employing if right after that. It was tiny in dimension and very good in value but it did not perform as it intended. Clee. I bought this item so when I went Disney I could be much more at ease with my 5 year old son. So I ought to say I was disappointed. It was good for the very first day or so but right after that it worked opposite of how it was going to worked

When it does alert you, the alerts are sent 15 to 20 minutes after the gadget has entered/exited the zone, rather of sending it inside a minute or two. Why organizations who give tech assistance to English-speaking countries do not make mastery of the English language a requirement is beyond comprehension. If you enter and exit the zone inside that 15 to 20 minute window you do not get an alert at all. This part is really irritating. This gadget looks to function fine when employing Zoombak’s internet website to do a place search. The gadget can not be placed someplace that heavily shields it from the outdoors, or it will not get a good cellular and/or GPS signal. I guess political correctness is much more critical than a satisfactory buyer experience. This is not how it is portrayed on their small advertisement video. When you’ve set up a zone, it is supposed to alert you when the gadget enters or exits the zone. The zone feature is the location wherever it’s just not delivering as advertised. Lastly, excellent luck on reaching a level 1 tech assistance staffer who speaks understandable English. Sometimes it doesn’t alert you at all.

The lady told me, that I only canceled the 2nd device on September 29th 2010, you idiot that is when I known as in last week and wasted my time for your error 2 1/2 many years ago! She asked for a few a lot more days to correct it in the system. He informed me that it would take 2-4 days for my account to be corrected. BEWARE, you have been warned!. I went to Zoombak’s web site, designed my account, paid the activation fee. He recommended that I turn it off and back on and wait 30 minutes for the “Que” to clear out and attempt it yet again. 00, he mentioned that I would have to pay out the complete volume and they would credit me back the . I called Zoombak’s tech assistance, Felipe (limited English) informed me that new units are at times tough the 1st time connecting. I called Zoombak straight (Daniel), they weren’t ready to authorize them either. I informed him that I would get in touch with back in a handful of days. 99), appeared to be much more expense effective then TomTomWork’s plan. I asked to speak to her supervisor, the supervisor’s English was worse than Anna’s! She basically stated the it was my difficulty not Zoombak’s. Their net website declined two (2) various credit cards. My account has shown both gadgets listed in my account because 2008. Hopefully Zoombak will get their bugs worked out and think about hiring a better talent pool of customer services agents that converse English. It has been a actual challenge dealing with Zoombak. I known as Zoombak back, Anna the initial agent that I spoke to did not speak English extremely properly. I charged up the device for six hours and turned it on. I informed him that was BS, it really is not my fault for their lack of systems and consumer service resources. 00 within ten days. I called them up to find out what this volume was for. Cons – their consumer services leaves a lot to be sought after, 5 phone calls, 1 man or woman spoke English. The defective device had an X next to it and was listed as not active. Moving forward, September 29th 2010 – I get an email from Zoombak saying I owe them . She informed me that her supervisor would get in touch with me inside 24-48 hours! I attempted to ask her some direct questions, she didn’t recognize me, she was defiantly studying from a script. Well, it did not operate!I known as Tech help again, I didn’t get the girls name (limited English also). 00 for the month-to-month services. And that is if it finds it! 7 out of 10 instances it does not. Pros – good looking unit, not sure if it works or not. Extremely irritating to say the least, I wonder how they have been billing me for a 2nd device and how several other individuals they have carried out this too. If that doesn’t work to get in touch with back. 00 for the 2nd unit (defective / returned gadget) and . They informed it . As for their services, the internet interface search is Quite Really slow, it takes 4-5 minutes on a large speed connection to find the gadget. I was at first excited when I learned of their solution. 24 hrs later and many attempts to connect and the unit nonetheless will not connect to their method. Zoombak’s program was not ready to connect to the gadget, following about ten attempts of attempting to connect to the device (the unit was positioned out in the yard of my metropolitan city). Yesterday (ten-06-ten), I get a another electronic mail from ZoomBak saying that I still owe them . I asked the rep, if I have been being billed for this 2nd (defective) device for the last two years, he informed me that he would have to search into it. 00 per month tracking charge, per unit, which adds up rapidly. Zoombak’s “claimed” capabilities along with reduced month tracking fee rates (. 00. 00 and they are going cancel my services and it would price me $ a hundred to get it reinstated! I named them back once more, same story / very same run all around. UPDATE 2 1/two many years later on. I attempted to order from Zoombak immediately via their site (9 per unit). Their iPhone App is junk, it has Never ever worked (WiFI or 3G) in the 6 months that I have had it. As for the . After bitching in 2008, they sent me a new gadget which worked fine. 00 less expensive, I purchased it, there was no issue with my credit card! It was delivered yesterday. So becoming discouraged but nonetheless wanting the device as any “early adapter” would, I searched the world wide web and discovered it on Amazon for . I called my credit card organizations, they never ever received any authorization request from Zoombak, they mentioned that there must be no difficulty. This produced NO sense at all, I spent 30 minutes reexplaining the last 2 many years events. I am currently using TomTomWork for GPS tracking of our personal vehicles, which runs 0 per tracking unit, plus installation and

This is not the situation. A couple of other observations. I improved it four times out to a radius of 700 yds. The minimum Security Zone is 110 yds. I was concerned that my canine would be long gone prior to I knew about it. Now for the problems I experienced. On a single occassion I had the unit in an open area 20 miles from my residence and received no alerts. Good Luck. . An additional function that utilizes the cellular portion in combination with the GPS is the mobile find function capability. The GPS instruction that accompany the unit obviously state that the Zoombak unit must have a clear line of sight to the GPS satellites in order to track it. They assured me that it was. I also received an instant credit from Zoombak for the year services that I had signed up for upon registering my unit because it was within their 30 day danger free of charge period. On 3 occassions I called the Zoombak Technical Assistance Employees to confirm that the unit was operating properly. Following repeatedly setting up Security Zones per the instructions that came with the unit, per the details I found on the Zoombak Internet site and lastly the instructions I received from the Zoombak Technical staff I could not get the GPS side of the unit to acknowledge that the unit had left the Safety Zones I had established. I bought the Pet version of the Zoombak about a month ago and I am sorry to say after a week of testing and many consultations with the Zoombak Technical Staff I did not have sufficient self-confidence in it to put it on my dog. I returned the unit to Amazon and received prompt credit. If it wanders back in and out of the Safety Zone inside of the 15 minutes you get no alerts. As most of you almost certainly know the Zoombak makes use of a combination of a Cellular Phone and GPS service to provide you informationn on your pet. Each of these options, which you can select on setup, use the cellular portion of the unit. Provided that Zoombak assured me that my unit was doing work perfectly I can only assume that they are either making use of an unreliable GPS Receiver in the unit or that the computer software system they are employing to offer the alerts is not perfected. It’s a great concept but not 1 that I want to be a Beta tester for specially with the expense of the unit, month-to-month services fees and issues for my canines. My other concern was that if an individual took my dog and placed it in a vehicle I would not be able to track it. the optimum I would would accept. Unless of course you can train your canine to sit in the front seat you may well have issues. At their instructions I elevated the radius of my security Zone. The cellular portion of the program worked fine. If you observe the Zoombak video or the Martha Stewart Show video clip you may get the impression, as I did, that the moment your dog leaves your yard or premises you will get an quick notification that it has left. This is the case with most GPS units. The Zoombak employees was extremely courteous, and I am sure they would be of help in finding your dog if you requested, even so it wasn’t till I asked to converse to a Technical Supervisors did I feel comfortable that somebody understood the issues I was experiencing with the unit. If you purchase it I stongly suggest that you check it extensively inside the 30 day chance free of charge time period and by all implies ahead of you place it on your canine. On a single occassion they had to re-sync the unit. I received quick notifications when I turned the unit off or when the battery was reduced. The bottom line individuals is that if you love and care as a lot as we do about our canines you must be wary of this product at this time. On all 4 tests at these distances I received no mobile of E-mail alerts that the unit had left the zone. Most time I stayed out of the Zone for 30 minutes or longer. Your canine need to physically leave your established Security Zone and stay out of that zone for 15 minutes. It worked rather effectively. I own two Garmin GPS units and both of them work perfectly up to ten ft of my residence so I see no explanation why the GPS unit packaged in the Zoombak couldn’t lock onto the call for 3 GPS satellites and identify that it had left or re-entered the safety zone. I tested the unit by putting it on the windshied of my car wherever I normally put my other GPS units and leaving the established Security Zone for a minimal of 15 minutes
