Is it possible to have a tracking chip in your car?
I have a gps in my car, and my dad claims that there’s a tracking chip installed in the car in order for it to work, and that he could look up where i am/where i went online. is this possible? also, where could i find the tracking chip? is it possible to deactivate it or something?

It is very possible to have a GPS tracking chip in your car, especially if it has a GPS unit. It would probably be a part of the GPS unit.. after all, the purpose of a GPS is to know where you are!

you don’t need to deactivate it it’s for the police and ambulance to be able to find you also if you were to get into a wreck out in the country. if you aren’t doing anything wrong then why would you bother. sounds like your dad has a good reason to have that in your car. grow up and stop trying to be sneaky.

it has to have a tracking chip, otherwise it wouldn’t work…(the gps has to track satellites in order for you to get the info about where you’re going.) if your Dad had the know how he probably could read the chip, but whos gonna take one apart and use the chip (which disables the unit) to do that ??? your cell phone already has the same type chip. )otherwise you couldn’t use it either…these chips are all over the place…get a grip and don’t worry about things you can’t control. ( like your parents and their threats.)

pull the fuse for the GPS unit. you may get lucky and it will be on its own circuit.
