how come people don’t install GPS tracking devices in their car in case it is stolen?
I remember hearing Hulk Hogan installing a GPS tracker in his daughters car and being able to remotely to shut off her car. That got me thinking if you knew your car was stolen, and you had a GPA tracker installed you could notify the police or remotely shut the car down yourself. Is this possible?

Have one in my car (although I don’t believe it’s tied into the engine… it might be… idk). Doesn’t cost that much and they recover the car (on average) 15 minutes after being notified.

yes its possible. police units install these types of devices in what they call bait cars. they put the car in a shady neighborhood and if someone steals it the car can be shut off and the doors locked so the criminal is locked inside.

lots of new cars have this from the factory. i think onstar can even do this if you can prove you’re the owner of the car. there are aftermarket systems available that usually install under the seat that allow people to track their vehicles online. they’re not always popular because most people don’t want people to be able to see where they’re at or where they went or even how fast they’re going.
