What do you think about the GPS being put on new cars to track mileage and tax it?
I heard this on the news the other day, taking place in Ontario in a couple years, they are already testing it. It monitors the time you travel and where you travel, and your rate depends on the times of day you travel!

Just another tactic being proposed to pass during a time of “crisis.” What do you think it means when you add the White House taking control of the US Census, healthcare spending to get ALL Americans in the medical data base, and the list goes on.

Yeah another Democratic solution to everything, TAX IT.

You just know the government is going to find a way to use it if it’s perfected, and it sounds like an invasion of privacy.
Big Brother always watching.
I don’t want us to go down that path.

It is a tax on the poor and middle class.
It is being promoted by elitists, predominantly those from areas like the upper Northeast and other urban areas.
It ignores the interests of exurban and rural citizens.
The rich can afford to live in the nice neighborhoods inside cities or the close-in suburbs which are always the most expensive.
As you get further out from the city enter, property gets less expensive but people have to drive more.
People who live in rural areas often have to drive substantial distances even to get to a grocery store, their children’s school, church, medical services, etc.
Those who live in urban areas have government-subsidized public transportation – paid for ALL citizens, including those in rural areas.
Those who don’t live in urban areas have NO public transportation alternatives so they get doubly screwed.
This is a completely regressive tax, being promoted by arrogant elitists..

They are actually considering this in Portland, OR. I am uncomfortable with this. Whose business is it anyway how many miles I drive and where I go? If I pay my per gallon gas price, isn’t that enough?

I heard something similar only they want to tax per mile instead of per gallon using tracking systems in US some where I think it was Oregon they’re mad cause so many people are switching to fuel effeciant cars and they want to be fair if I owned a turck that would be a good idea but I think they can use it in to many other ways
