How can I connect to my car to get a comprehensive report (engine status, door ajar, speed, etc)?
I’m try builind a gms/gps mobile tracking unit for my vehicle. I’ve seen some online that have a wire(s) leading to the vehicle that gets various sensor reports (door ajar, vehicle on off, vehicle speed, rpm, etc.) Where are they plugging this chord into to get this comprehensive vehicle report? What kind of cable/interface are they likely using?

DLC- Data Link Connector, under your dash depending on year and model. It should be right under your steering wheel under the dash its just a plug with 16-pins if you want to know what ones do what- check wikipedia.com…. pin 1,16 are ground, OCV (open circuit voltage)
