Can I refuse this car service?
I recently financed a USED CAR from a dealership. The financing company called me and basically said I wasn’t supposed to be financed since I am only part time. Then they questioned my ability to make future payments which I ensured them I wouldn’t have a problem. A few days later the guy who sold me the car kept calling and calling telling me now they have to install a gps tracking device in my car “FREE OF CHARGE”.And I quote “Just in case the car gets lost or stolen.” Yeah right! I don’t care it’s free or not, I do not want to be tracked. Hell, they have my address so why add something else to the car when they haven’t even repaired the IMPORTANT ISSUES? Can I refuse this service?

The question is if the finance company has approved the loan or not. If the loan is not approved, they can request that a tracking device be installed as a condition of approval. You do not have to accept this request, but they can turn down the loan.
If they can not get you financed, you would have to return the car to the dealership. They would have to return any trade in, and any cash that you put down.

If you have full coverage insurance on the vehicle, I see no reason why the finance company would be concerned with the vehicle getting “lost or stolen.”
I keep seeing questions on this forum from people who purchase vehicles and later are told that the financing didn’t go through or some other lame excuse of why the deal isn’t completed – this is simply ridiculous – it’s up to the dealer to secure the financing BEFORE they release the vehicle, otherwise, in my opinion, they can suffer any of the consequences or assume the financing themselves.

I guess possession is 9/10ths of the law, and if you have a signed deal and the loan has been funded, they can’t really do anything to you as long as the payments are made on time.
