its a satellite following you and keeping track where you’re going. i personally hate it, because come on…it’s a satellite in space that can see where we are and what we’re doing. the government is just a tad bit fuc ked up.

Well, yes, you are being tracked by satellites, because that’s how the GPS works.
But they don’t know which individual owns which GPS, so it’s an anonymous tracking.

Could be. Rental car companies are doing this. If you speed they record it and add that to your bill. Or, so I’ve heard some do.
Same thing on cellphones. Unless it’s turned completely off, they can track what cellphone tower you’re near.

My goodness these people answering are stupid. HEY PEOPLE IF YOU DON’T KNOW THE ANSWER THEN DON’T ANSWER.
Answer: absolutely not. Your GPS does not send out any signals whatsoever. The satellites do not receive any signals whatsoever. All the satellites do is tell you where they are.
Your GPS triangulates its position based on the information it receives from the satellites and shows that position to you on the GPS screen. Again: your GPS does not send out any signals whatsoever. The satellites are as aware of your GPS as they are of your dog toto.
Good question, though. It seems most people had completely the wrong idea. I love it when someone has the courage to ask the question everyone else thinks they already know. Kudos to you!
