gps tracking devices? i need help.?
My mom is worried now that i have my license that Im going to get in an accident in the middle of nowhere, and be hurt and unnable to contact anybody, so she wants to get a gps locator thing, so incase she needs to find out where i am she can just get on the computer and see where the car is…
what type of device should we get?
are there cheaper ones than 300-400 dollars?
anything i should know about them???

Well, one thing here. The principal is you get for what you buy. And the cheaper ones may not be as good or reliable in usage for distance or location. So if she can find a good one for a cheaper price. That is what I would get . And your mom has a right to worry about you. As She loves you to death. And cares a whole lot about you. Be glad she loves you that much to do that for you and buy that Gps device. Some day you may thank her for putting that gps device in the car. As not only you might be in a accident. It may be your fault. or maybe not. Just remember there are lots of nuts out there in this world. And you may be in a car accident by one of them. I was a few times. Unfortunately.

To clear things up, a gps device is for navigation and is free (besides the device). Tracking is usually another a feature that requires transmitting to a base; this is a service and will require a subscription.
Unless you really want to spend the money, suggest cell phone. Some phones have tracking features.
