Just got my XXL 540s and it seems really nice so far. Instructions are a little too simplified but I've discovered that the circular suction cup mount snaps off. THEN you can see the lock/unlock mode of the suction cup via the rotating ring. The suction cup holds well so far and the little plastic disk included is for your dash and not windshields.

Finding a case for the large 5 inch screen has been a little challenging. After searching around I think I've found one. Case Logic (model PHDC1 avaiable on Amazon for about 12 dollars -as of this writing and Best Buy for about 20 dollars) fits really well. This is a portable HD case but works well with the Tomtom 540s XXL GPS. If you leave the suction mount on the unit it will fit. If you snap it off and leave on your car windshield, you can fit the unit and the USB cable all together. The 12v cable is another matter. At that point a larger (but for me less desirable) case is needed.

I am very pleased so far with the Tomtom.

This was a Christmas gift to my husband, and he has really enjoyed it. It makes going to new places less stressful.

This device works very well for the US & Canada but is very limited in its coverage of Mexico. It is is advertised as covering all of the three major North American countries and it doesn't provide any street or town information for Tabasco, Campaeche or the Yucatan peninsula (except for - possibly - Cancun. I didn't check coverage of that region of the eastern Yucatan. Tom Tom advertises a download for Mexico (at $69.95) that still provides no information for those southeastern Mexican states listed above. While the device is very good here at home it does me no good in the area I had hoped to tour in early next year.

I ordered this product and after receiving it found that I had received another GPS as a gift, so I returned the one I had ordered from Amazon. The product from Amazon was terrific and would have served my purposes well. I had no trouble returning it and got a full refund, without any questions.
Amazon is a nice place to purchase items, and as usual, they take care of their customers.
