Best GPS unit for the money; have used it on 5 different courses, yardages are right on with Sky Caddie and others that my buddies own. Downside: You have to remember to advance the unit to the next hole (it does not do it automatically). Even without knowing this I would still purchase this unit. P.S. The company’s customer service is definitely the best (they answer e-mails and do everything they can to enhance the product).

The Izzo Swami 1500 Golf GPS Unit is quite good in determining distances to the front, middle, and back of greens, which is all that most amateur players need. It does not provide distances to bunkers or other course features as some of the more expensive models do, however, it costs only 25% of those models. Also, it has a cost of only $10 per year to keep it updated. I play between 20 to 30 different courses per year and found that most of these are already mapped. I have a request in for one to be mapped and another to be updated for course changes. My request was made abour 4 weeks ago, but I have not received a notification for these changes to date. It has been reliable in all other cases.
It is easy to set up and easy to operate. Ilike it.

I bought this as I was not into golf enough to spend $300 or more for a fancy GPS. Amazon had the best price and it arrived promptly. It costs $9.95 to register for courses for one year. If you are like me and usually play one course, you would not have to renew the suscription once your course is loaded. Loading the course or making changes is simple. It can be charged either by the USB connection or to a electric outlet via a special plug and the USB cable. I have used it for more that one round without problem, but one should probably try to determine the life fo the battery — according to some things I read it is 12 hours which is probably not going to completely cover three rounds. The accuracy has been outstanding. One most holes it is right on and matches the 150, 200, etc markers on the course. On one hole at the 100 yard marker it indicated 92 yards, and it was closer than the marker judging by the fact I overhit the green reguarly using the marker. It is a bit slow on the uptake, taking 30 seconds or longer to identify the course. If two courses start close together, it usually only identfies one. There is a procedure using the on/off button to rotate throuh courses, but it does not always work. I usually load the one I am playing before I go. My group member are jealous and can’t believe the price and the accuracy.

lacks some of the bells and whistles, but tells you the basics, how far to the front, back and center of the green.great for the price!

The Swami tells all! Distances are very accurate; response is quick and all of my usual courses are available. One of my home courses was re-routed so the distances did not work on some holes. So I asked IZZO to get it re-mapped. Bingo – done in a week.
Not fancy – distances to front edge, center of green and back edge – good enough for me to improve my accuracy a lot…
