Is there a way to locate a gps tracker in a car?
A friend of mine is being stalked by an ex-boyfriend and there is a tracking device that he installed in her car. We know that he could get into trouble but we need to find the device first. Is there a way?
He calls her whenever she leaves the house and asks where she is going and says he knows when she leaves and gets home and he doesnt live around here.

Most GPS devices are in some way attached to the battery or alternator (for power). Check around those places. If you cannot find anything that looks like it doesnt belong, take it to a Police Dept and see if they can find it.
If the STALKER calls and asks where yawl are going, be honest. Unless purchased through the blackmarket, any kind of GPS device will have purchaser consumer data that can tell the police who the guy is.
I’ll pray for you two, good luck and God-speed.

I don’t know where you live, but I would go to the Police/Sheriff’s Dept and tell them (ask for Investigator) exactly what is happening. They can find the device without have to dismantle everything. If you were close, I have done this myself many times.

I sell the devices and there are a couple of ways to mount them.
1. Hard wired- Find the fusebox on the vehicle. Check for any wires coming from the front of it. There should be nothing, so if you see a anything there, thats the power supply. follow it back and see if you find it.
2. Battery powered- Check under the vehicle for a box about the size of a camera case. This is kinda tough because these are meant to be hidden. You may have to get down and get under the vehicle and look. Because the most common way for application is magnets, check all the metal under the vehicle. In addition, check behind the bumpers, under the spare tire well, trunk, under the seats, and in the wheel wells. Most of the trackers have to have a good line of sight to the sky for reception, so check the outer perimeter of the vehicle good. Most of the devices have small LED ‘s(lights) on them. Usally red and blue.
Hope this helps.
