no.. sorry.
people can report their phones stolen to their providers and they will make sure that phone is never used by anyone else.
but they will not track a phone.
justin? why would someone waste their time tracking a stolen phone down? i mean, if it was expensive shouldn’t someone have had insurance on it anyways. What cell phone provider has ever said “oh your phone was stolen? let me track it down for you” ? yeahhh… none. there may be ways of doing it but if you wanna get into that then whatev. Go on picking on girls online!
i never said there was absolutely no way to track a phone.. i said a provider wouldn’t do that for you. Maybe you forgot how to read before you decided to email me and try to argue about it.

Hi,
once a phone is reported stolen the phone is deactivated. anyone trying to reactivate the phone will get into problems due to the serial number being reported as stolen.

Kelsey? You and I answer a lot of the same questions sweetie, and usually I agree with your answers… But on this one, you’re wrong.
Asker: It depends on the phone. There are applications for quite a few phone OS’s out there that will do just what you ask.
I use an application called “Advanced Security Genius” on my E90 communicator. It’s totally hidden, and when it detects a SIM card change, it automatically sends a text message to up to two predefined numbers I’ve set up in the application, thereby telling me what the new number of the phone is. The thief is never aware of this happening, as it’s all done in the background.
I have a good friend of mine who’s working on a similar application, but his will also fire up the built-in GPS receiver (if the phone has one), and will update the phone’s location on the web… sort of like http://gpsed.com/ , but it doesn’t get activated until you send a text message to the phone with a pre-defined word.

The guy in front of me is right, a few phone have advanced GPS features, but most of them DONT at the moment.
The misconception of the phone tracking thing is often overlooked. Many phone companies do that in Europe, but not in the US for some strange reason. And, most of the time,t he loser tries to activate the phone, and doesnt realize that theres a stole phone report on it
