Don’t all police depts have the capability to track a GPS device on a car?
Someone put a GPS device on my car to track me. There have been several strangers that I have seen before, and everywhere I go they seem to be there. I am not being paranoid. Yesterday, I caught three different drivers trying to following me. I immediately turned to the left to left and slowed down. Then, they immediately tried to slow down so they can dodge me trying to get their license places. I saw their faces, and they looked at me back and immediately sped off. These were three different drivers, three different cars, three different occasions.
I went to my local police dept to have my car inspected for a tracking device, and they said that they don’t do it. You’d have to go to a dealer. Now, since they have the capability to track cars, don’t they have the capabilities to detect tracking devices?

nope, there is no way to detect it if they don’t have the tracking number.. there may be another way, but most police depts don’t have that technology…

They don’t necessarily have the capability to locate a tracking device on your car. Generally police need a warrant to place a GPS device on a car themselves, and would seem to me that they would not check for one on your car, particularly if there is no criminality afoot. Also, it would depend on if you own the car and who placed the device there and for what reason. I would suggest going to a shop and having it checked out for yourself in the private sector.

GPS devices placed on cars are for commercial purposes. They were either placed there by a dealer such as On Star or after market. The police departments will only be able to track the GPS device with the assistance of the company that monitors your device. You are able to purchase a tracking GPS and pay for online tracking services from independent companies.
An example would be, you have a GPS tracking device installed on your car and pay for a monitoring service. Your car is stolen, you would either call the monitoring service which in turn will notify the police department or you give the police your online tracking information and they can monitor it from the internet.

Why would anyone want to track you? Are you someone special or famous? Or are you paranoid? Do you realize what is involved in having three cars follow you? If they were professionals it would only take one car and you would never see them.

1 are you a celebrity? Mafia princess? or just paranoid.
#2 gps receives signals, they do not transmit signals.
#3 if someone put a responder on your car or is tracking your cell phone the police have no way of knowing.
#4 a responder can send a signal but the police cannot trace it, They are not mechanics and do not know what does or does not belong on your car.
#5 police in the US cannot mount a tracker on a car without a warrant as of a court decision earlier this year.
