How can I tell if my att cell phone has a tracking device on it?
It is in my husbands name. He would not just go in a store and by me a cell phone. The first one was ordered from cingular and I still use the same sim card I had in my first phone.

check the phone online in the AT&T website or read the manual that came with the phone. It’s basically been the more recent phones that have this device in them. I know that the Samsung Rugby has GPS, I believe the Blackberry’s have it. The iphone has GPS and I’m sure that other phones have it also. You can also call your local AT&T store and ask them if your phone has GPS or tracking device and they should be able to tell you.

Take it apart, look for an external chip attached to the mainframe.
The mainframe is the circuit board in your phone, carefully take the phone apart, and look. Also, turn your phone off, if your phone is off, the GPS has no signal, so you cannot be followed, when your phone is on, it uses the power to send the signal to the one tracking you.
